Excursion 09

Friday, 10, 11 & 12 August 2012

Dear colleagues,

This is the first time that Alba will meet a mountain hut. I have organized this outing in 3 days to soften it a little bit such that Alba gets slowly used to various days of hiking. The 1st day we will reach the Bostan-Tornay hut at 1763 m and we will sleep there. The 2nd day is the longest but we have all the day along to climb 643 m up and walk some 8 km until reaching the Golese hut where we will have dinner and will sleep. Day 3 is very short and easy. We plan to spend most of the morning in the lake of Mines d'Or and have lunch there before driving back to St. Genis. Here is my proposal:

Date: Friday, 10, 11 & 12 August 2012
Site: Tete de Bostan (2406 m)
Classification: P2T2 (bit difficult - 16.6 km)
Altitude: 2406 m (highest point)
Climbing up distance: 1243 m
Climbing time: D1(500m-5km-3h), D2(643m-7.8km-9h), D3(100m-4km-2h30)
Total hiking time: 10h00
Starting point: Parking Mines d'Or (1400 m)
Meeting point: My place in St Genis on Friday at 11h00
Remarks: Panoramics
Access: Motorway to Cluses. There take D902 to Montriond- Morzine passing by Les Gets. In Morzine turn right to the Church and take road along the riverside (valle de la manche) passing by la Memaz, la Grangette, la boucherie, le Cret, le Provion, Mouille de la Manche, les Allamands, Erigne derriere and Erigne devant and, finally Charny (6 km from Morzine). 1.5 Km after Charny following the indications to Mines d'Or, we arrive to the lake. Park there close to Hotel Refuge des Mines d'Or. The trip may take about 1 hour 30 minutes.

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm gloves, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.

Have a lovely weekend! Cheers! Jose.
