Excursion 15

Saturday, 22 October 2005

Dear colleagues,

Days are becoming shorter and, therefore, so should the hikes. My proposal for this weekend does not require any special technical skill. The last part of the hike is a bit steppy and reaching the top slightly vertiginous. Here is the proposal:

Date: Saturday, 22 October 2005
Site: Le Chateau d'Oche (2197m)
Classification: Medium
Altitude: 2197 m (highest point)
Climbing up distance: 695m+150m+100m
Climbing time: 3h
Total hiking time: 5h30
Starting point: Chalets de Bise (1502m)
Meeting point: CERN Cafeteria (Main building) at 9 am
Remarks: Panoramic, Leman, Bouquetins, Marmottes
Access: Take the Autoroute Blanche and get out at the high of Cluses. Take road D902 to Taninges. Continue along the road D902 for about 16 km passing by or close to Les Gets, Morzine and St-Jean-d'Aulps. Continue along the same road. You will drive across the tunnel des Tines. 1 km after the tunnel take road to the right hand side (D332) that leads to Le Biot. In Le Biot follow road D32 in direction to Col du Corbier (+5km) and to Bonnevaux(+5km). Continue for less that 1 km until reaching the site of "La Solitude" taking road D22 to the left side. 1 km after the cross point we arrive to the site "L'Essertillet" where we must take a country road to the right which drives to "Centfontaine" and "La Revenette". Here we must take another county road to the right driving to Lac de Fontaine et chalets de Bise. Park in the parking place near by Chalets de Bise. The trip from CERN to Chalets de Bise may easily take about 1h45.

In the URL http://excursiones.salicio.com or http://excursiones.salicio.net you can find information on the outings.

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm gloves, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.

Have a lovely weekend! Cheers! Jose.
